Living the Jiu-Jitsu Lifestyle is a term that we hear a lot nowadays on BJJ websites, magazines, videos or even among our training partners and friends. For the large majority of us Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a hobby, it has become a passion and even affected the way we think, talk, look, walk, and act…So in a nutshell living the Jiu-Jitsu Lifestyle is taking and using what you have learned while training Jiu-Jitsu and applying that to your everyday life. Every subculture like Surf, skateboard, bodybuilding, video games, crossfit, rock climbing…has their own Lifestyle.

Vector Jiu-Jitsu

EDR supports and promotes the below listed Non-Profit Organizations nationally. We encourage our clients to work with their community and ask nothing of others that we are not willing to do ourselves.
It takes a village. It represents an honorable & humble reality. It requires that we lead by example.

The only way to make a difference in the future of the world we leave behind for our youth and community, is to consider giving every task the very best that you have to offer.  To stand for something larger than yourself...
The only REAL immortality is the one that is linked to the smile that is left behind as you walk away from your last endeavor.

The Vector Jiu-Jitsu program will provide at-risk youth with training in self-regulation and a vehicle to achieve optimal physical and mental fitness.  We will prepare children to become self-reliant managers and contributors in the next generation workforce via martial arts training, high behavioral expectations and mentor support.

Our Core Values

Know Yourself

It is impossible to make improvements in your life, or help others in theirs, without first knowing who you are and becoming comfortable with that person.

.

Better Yourself

Vector Jiu-Jitsu was founded under the premise that lessons learned and personal revelations experienced on the mat can & SHOULD be taken into every aspect of a practitioners life.

Help Others

Vector Jiu-Jitsu was founded under the premise that lessons learned and personal revelations experienced on the mat can & SHOULD be taken into every aspect of a practitioners life.

  • KNOW YOURSELF - It is impossible to make improvements in your life, or help others in theirs, without first knowing who you are and becoming comfortable with that person.  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a uniquely effective martial art when it comes to getting to know oneself.  The close contact and submission holds force the practitioner to develop deep senses of self-control, trust and body awareness.  At the onset of training, many practitioners experience total physical domination which can be quite an emotional challenge.  But, through continued exploration into the art and its basis in technique & strategy over athleticism and strength, the student learns stress management, critical thinking and continues to self-discover.

  • BETTER YOURSELF - Vector Jiu-Jitsu was founded under the premise that lessons learned and personal revelations experienced on the mat can & SHOULD be taken into every aspect of a practitioners life.  While a student learns to control their reactions to difficult jiu-jitsu positions, they should carry that analytical thought & stress management into their school or home life.  If a student makes the mistake of forgetting their gi (BJJ uniform) or practicing moves not being taught during BJJ instruction and are made to do physical punishment (pushups, running, etc.), we expect that they take that gain in personal accountability outside the dojo.  We instill on our students that they should endeavor to become a better version of themselves every day, and in every way.

  • HELP OTHERS - The development of the "whole self" is incomplete without an aspect of service.  Our students are taught that, giving back is the most important part of their personal journey.  Various community service outreach efforts instill this value upon our students.  From donating produce out of the 100% organic garden, to neighborhood beautification, assistance to the elderly, elementary mentoring & working to offer free programs for the community, Vector Jiu-Jitsu students see service a joyous way of life that is infinitely more rewarding than any form of personal gain.

Our Activities Include:
  • Community Mentors

  • ServiceTraining

  • Self Improvement

It is time, isnt it ! ... You have that itch, something is missing, you need something to fill a hole but you dont know how to get there, where the hole is exactly? I hav been there too. Look at this list below, Do 5 of the things on it and watch the change as you slowly come out of the funk and get to know you again.

Here are just a few ideas to help you get on the road to becoming the person you were always meant to be. Live big, 2015 can be your year.

  • Cut out all the toxic people in your life: Probably the most important thing to do, to revitalize your life. Toxic people waste your time and suck your energy. If someone in your life is draining, never has a nice thing to say about anyone, or you are always finding yourself contacting them and they never contact you … it maybe time to cut the ties. This is your life, cut the toxic people out and rebuild it the way you want it to be. 2015 is your year, take hold and watch it flourish.

  • Drop your phone and start living in the now: I want to scream when I see all these people with their phones up, watching the world go by. Phones are important, I love my iPhone and live with it just like you do, but I know when to put it away and enjoy my life. If you find yourself at a social event and instead of watching it, or talking with the people around you … you’re on your phone … then it’s time to put it away. Put it in your pocket and look at the world around you. Notice the people, the things happening near you … this is your life, be a part of it … not a spectator.

  • Start a bucket list: This is huge. Call it what you will, but creating a bucket list will give yourself something to look forward to. An exciting goal that you have always wanted to do, or maybe a place you have always wanted to visit. Make that list and make it happen. This is your life, what are you waiting for?

  • Mind your words: Words have power. Whether you’re thinking them or saying them, they change who you are. Be aware of your thoughts and when that little voice goes negative—STOP IT and make it positive. You control your thoughts and feelings.  Start working on changing it today, so you can use it as a positive tool for the new you, not something that makes you feel negative about yourself. Also, be careful what comes out of of your mouth. My mom used to tell me to never judge or talk poorly about others. It’s so true, stay positive, look for the good in people and refuse to lower yourself to other people’s catty ways.

  • Think positive, be grateful: Everyday take a moment to think about all the positive and wonderful things you have in your life. Then feel the gratitude for them. It’s the like the old adage: “If you woke up tomorrow with only the things you were thankful for the day before, what you would wake up too.”  Time to start thanking whomever you believe in for all your blessings, need it be God, the Universe or the Flying Spaghetti Monster … you need to be thankful. Putting that out to the Universe will bring positive back to you, it’s that simple.

  • Get out of your comfort zone: This is your year, grab hold of it and get out there and try new things. You want to be a new you, getting out of your comfort zone is a great way to begin. Have a friend suggest things to do, join meetup or sites that promote outings, get a bicycle and discover the cool areas around you. Do anything, anything different that you wouldn’t normally do. You are amazing, get out there and show the world.

  • Eat Healthy: Cut out the processed food, remove the GMO’s and start eating real food, not food full of chemicals and preservatives. If you are what you eat then what would you be? I hope not a Taco Bell burrito. Remove the sugars and white grains, bring in foods that will feed your body, mind and soul. The first week is always tough, but after that you will feel amazing and be able to better embrace the new you.

  • Drop all those excuses: Excuses are for losers and you are not a loser. You are amazing, talented and fascinating. You don’t need excuses for anything on this list … you just need to do it. Go out, meet people, make friends, try new things and drop all the excuses you’ve always had. I’m not smart enough, not pretty enough, not thin enough … I know the list, I used to try to hide behind excuses too. They get you nowhere, just depressed and lonely. Drop them now, step up and live the life you were meant to.

  • Get in the sunshine: Doctors recommend that we get out into the sunshine without sunblock for 5 to 15 minutes at least three times a week in spring and summer. That doesn’t seem like too much, right? When was the last time you were in the sunshine that long? Sun does so many amazing things for our bodies. It cheers you up, reduces heart disease, helps with aches and pains, increases fertility … the list goes on and on. So get out there and enjoy a little sun.

  • Meet new people: Whether looking for a new romantic interest or maybe new friends, getting out and meeting new people is critical for the new you. Join a class, start a club, get on Meet-Up and join a group. However you want to do it, just do it. You need to meet new people and replace those old, funky, toxic ones you just removed from your inner bubble of friends.

  •  And most importantly, always remember this is your life, not a dress rehearsal, so make the most of it. You only get one.

  • "One woman can make a difference. United and empowered  we can change the world!"

The lotus flower is a beautiful flower that can be found all over the world. But the start of this flowers life is not as beautiful is one might image. It’s unlike many other flowers. When the lotus first begins to sprout, it is under water, making its home in lakes and ponds in areas where the water remains fairly still on the surface. But underneath the surface, the lotus is surrounded by mud and muck and by fish, by insects, and simply dirty, rough conditions.

Despite these conditions, the lotus flower maintains strength, and pushes aside each of these dirty obstacles as it makes its way to clearer surfaces. At this time, the lotus is still just a stem with only a few leaves, and a small flower pod. But in time, the stem continues to grow, and the pod slowly surfaces above the water, into the clean air, finally freeing itself from the harsh life conditions below. It is then that the lotus slowly opens each beautiful petal to the sun, basking in the worldly beauty surrounding it. The lotus flower is ready to take on the world.  Despite being born into dark, murky conditions, where hope for such beautiful life seems dubious, the lotus grows, rises above adversity

" I am consciously aware of being in a ME phase." And I like it. A lot!

Too often we forget that to be healthy it is okay for you to take care of yourself first. You are always better able to care for those you love or that need you if you remember that you, as a person, have value too.

With too many decades of life's lesson's already passed I realized that time is running out. After global travel, and adventures ...and oh so very many new and diverse experiences for a small town girl to have beenm able to share in. I realized that my life lessons could be invaluble to the  young women coming alone behind me.
I am here. In this place. In this time. And in this state of mind.
I have a thirst to share and insure others that will listen to the one truth. That no matter where you come from, all things are possible.

As the Editor of Lotus, with thousands of women yacking away just as passionately as I am; and finding once again, that I love every moment of it. I knew this was the place that I belong. Mentoring, educating, encouraging and exploring resolutions to the questions of all women

around the globe.  We, together all feel, think and desire the same things for our children and sister women. Equality. Growth potentials met & freedom of expression.

At LOTUS you will enjoy the latest insprirational news for women & girls, Non- Profit causes for women & girls.  And yes... the issues that focus on women and girls needs and life goals.

But know this is NOT because I have anything against men...
It's simple. I have been a women for a long time, and it would, (to coin a phrase ), be stupid of me, not to be on my side.

You know... That whole equality thing... well it turns out that when you stop and look around you with eyes wide open, and objectively, that it is very important for girls, women and for men to feel empowered and supported when it is time to make pro-active changes that impact women globally. And that inly happens when we are united.

Travel is a big highlight here at LOTUS too - Solo or in groups.
Travel expands your mind and your understanding of other cultures and adversities. Travel abroad reminds a person just how small your problems are. It gives you a more complete frame of reference.

After seeing women walk 2 miles for water 1 way each day, 3x s a day just to bathe or have drinking water you are less inclined to whine if your burger is missing a pickle.

With a push towards self enlightment... that is to say sharing the OOoooOO 's and Ahhhh's of what is changing around you and how you might help to make changes globally with LOTUS.
You gaina new perspective on the definition of humility AND strength.

Seeing that we are all the same no matter our race or socio-economic situation makes a huge difference in your attitude towards life and in how you will begin to relate to others and your future footprint in life.

We are all United and we are all stronger when we voice any one thing together.
